WORKSHOPS

I facilitate a variety of workshops for educators and specialists working in grades K-12. My work with school staff focuses on meeting the needs of advanced learners in the general classroom, creating a culture of curiosity and risk making, and nurturing the social and emotional needs of gifted learners. In addition to the workshops listed below, I also develop workshops to meet the specific professional development needs of the staff I am working with. I am located in Maine, available to travel in the state and to facilitate workshops on-line.

  • Characteristics of giftedness, both “conventional” and unconventional (This is the workshop created in conjunction with my book, A Field Guide to Gifted Students.)

  • Understanding and supporting twice exceptional learners

  • Developing the differentiated classroom: strategies to support gifted learners, logistics and management, putting it all into action

  • Nurturing healthy perfectionism

  • Creating a culture of curiosity in your classroom

  • Meeting the social and emotional needs of gifted learners through literature

  • Promoting deep thinking in your students

  • Crafting better questions

  • Gifted learners at risk of falling between the cracks

Workshop rates

  • 90 minutes - $350

  • 2 hours - $450

  • 3 hours - $600

  • Full day - $900

Please note that the total cost of the workshop which uses A Field Guide to Gifted Students is higher than my personal rate listed above due to the additional cost of a book for each participant.

Consulting

  • I consult with gifted educators, administrators and educator teams in order to guide them through the important work of reviewing their gifted identification tools and process, the services they provide and the way they communicate the valuable work educators do with gifted learners.

  • I consult with homeschooling families who aim to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of their gifted learner at home.

  • I consult with families looking for information and tools to help them advocate for the needs of their gifted child in their school. The focus is on the needs of the child and teaming up with the school to work towards the common goal of providing the student with appropriately challenging material and learning opportunities.

  • I consult with families who are looking for local resources to engage their intellectually energetic child; information on giftedness to help them gain a deeper understanding of their child and their needs; suggestions for ways to keep busy brains happily immersed in thinking and wondering.

Consulting fees: $100/hour
